MY SAVIOR!!!!!!! MY STRENGTH!!!!!!! MY SONG!!!!!!! MY VICTORY!!!!!!!!!
"...Looking unto JESUS, the Author and Finisher of our faith, Who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross..." (Hebrews 12:2).
It happened in January, 1984, in Athens, Georgia.....
When I was much younger, I enjoyed running for exercise. I was never able to increase my running speed; but (by God's grace) He did enable me to build up my endurance; so that I
was able to run a marathon each year (for several consecutive years). [ A marathon is 26.2 miles]
In order to complete a marathon, I usually started my training and preparation approximately
6 months before the race.
During the fall of 1983 --- Because of very stormy weather on most weekends....I was not able
to complete many long runs.
Also an important part of my pre-race preparation ---was to arrive at the starting line about 1/2
hour early---so that I could rest and "loosen" my muscles after a long drive to the race site.
Of course - Long before race day I realized that my preparation was incomplete because of the
inadequate number and duration of long runs that I had completed.
In addition to that inadequacy...I arrived at the starting line so late that I had NO time to
rest and loosen my muscles ---so I had to run to the starting line and begin running the race!
(Please allow me to add an interjection here)---
Well before race day I had prayerfully decided to fill the race time with praise songs to JESUS CHRIST, and to pray for the other runners, as well as pray for the families who lived along the race route).
As I drew nearer to the finish line-----at about the "mile 23 mark", it became clear the final 3
miles...we would be running DIRECTLY INTO a stiff wind!!!
Of course I was already very tired at that stage --- then my "Savior" appeared.
My good friend/brother in Jesus Christ/running partner Wayne Douglas had found out that I was running the marathon that day--- so when Wayne completed the 5k (3.1 miles)---He went to the finish line for the marathon, started there, and ran the route in reverse...so that he met me at "mile marker 24!!!
AND, Wayne told me "I will run in front of you and break this wind for you; you just "tuck" yourself behind me, and I will take you to the Finish Line."
So! With JESUS being "my Strength and my Song", and my brother Wayne helping me to the
finish line ---and JESUS being my FINISHER --- my elapsed time for that marathon was my fastest ever (a personal record)!!!
When compared to other runners.....my elapsed time was not fast...but for me it was a personal
record!!!
JESUS-"MY STRENGTH AND MY SONG" (Isaiah 12:2).
JESUS - "AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF OUR FAITH" (Hebrews 12:2)
I realized later on that Wayne's sheltering me through the wind...
is like JESUS CHRIST'S protecting us and making "the way" to our finish line/
HEAVEN!!!!!!!!!!!!
"He is faithful to His word and to His righteous character...for He cannot deny HIMSELF".
(2 Timothy 2:13/Amplified Bible).

OUR CHRISTMAS GIFT T0 JESUS CHRIST!!!!!!!!!
John 13:25: "Then, ( John), leaning back on Jesus' (chest),.....said unto Him,
Lord, who is it?"
In John 13:16-30, Jesus identifies His betrayer---(Judas). In this passage, Jesus and His (early)
disciples are eating a meal together.....In verse 21, JESUS has just washed the feet of His ---
disciples.....When Jesus has said these things, He was troubled in His Spirit, and testified and
said, 'Most assuredly, I say to you, One of you will betray Me.'
Then the disciples looked at one another, perplexed about whom He spoke;
Now there was leaning on Jesus' (chest) one of his Disciples (John), whom Jesus loved. Simon Peter therefore motioned to John to ask who it was of whom He spoke. Then, leaning back, (John)
on Jesus' (chest), He said to Him, 'Lord, who is it?'
Jesus answered, 'It is he to whom I shall give a piece of bread when I have dipped it.' And having dipped the bread, He gave it to Judas Iscariot....."-----
So, when John asked Jesus that question, Jesus answered Him.
May WE ask a question-----'What ELSE happened when John laid his head on Jesus' chest???
It is my understanding and belief that---while leaning on Jesus' chest, John heard Jesus'
Christ's answer ("It is He to whom I will give a piece of bread when I have dipped it").
But John (also heard) by the Holy Spirit, GOD'S HEART AND PLAN for all mankind!!!
John "heard"---
THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST (THE LAST BOOK OF THE BIBLE)!!!
The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His servants ---things
which must shortly (quickly or swiftly) take place. And He sent and signified it by His
angel to His servant John, who also bore witness to the Word of God, and to the testimony
of Jesus Christ, to all things that He saw.
"Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things
which are written in it. The time is near." (Revelation 1:1-3)
The central theme of the Revelation is that the LORD GOD OMNIPOTENT REIGNS!!! (Revelation 19:6), this theme has been validated in history by the Lamb--WHO IS LORD OF
LORDS AND KING OF KINGS!!!
To recap.....John laid his head on Jesus' chest and asked a question of Him-----Jesus answered
John's question.
But also---John heard Jesus' heart, and Spirit, and GOD'S Plan for Man.

In Revelation 19:13 Jesus' name is "THE WORD OF GOD".
The Holy Spirit has given me understanding that frequently/regularly I am to lay my head (and heart) on GOD'S WORD, AND submit to Him, and ask Him to speak his heart into my heart---
that which He wants me to hear and share. And I will frequently need to ask the Holy Spirit to
guide me into the truth. (John 14:26).
The SCALE of the DIFFERENCE between John's asking Jesus ("Who is Your betrayer") and the receiving of the Triumph of JESUS and the Revelation of JESUS CHRIST-----is valid for us asking GOD "Lord speak to me about Your plan for me this day, this week, etc., for this occasion.
Listen to this: "Now to Him Who, by the action of His power that is at work within us, is able to carry out His purpose and do superabundantly, far over and above all that we dare ask or
think...infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams--- to Him be
glory in the church by Jesus Christ to all generations forever, and forever. Amen."
(Amplified Bible/ Ephesians 3:20)

For according to Jesus' payer in John 17:21-23...God loves us (all) as He loves Jesus!!!

REMEMBER MY NAME!!!!!!!!!
It was 56 years ago-----and I still remember his name.....
Yes, older Barry here, with another story about his past-----"past".....But JESUS CHRIST is
always PRESENT: "I will be with you ALWAYS"!!! (Matthew 28:20).
(56 years ago October 24, 1963-----I graduated from high school in June 1963.....then in
October I enlisted in the US Navy.....I guess that some of you are doing some calculating...
..18 years old + 56 years = 74; yes, that means I am now age 74.
Basic Training/"Boot Camp" was all about DISCIPLINE!!!
Our Company "Commander/ Drill Seargent" introduced himself to us "recruits" in a
very memorable way: He said, "I want you to remember my name. My name is Mister Jack."
"Ready, Begin!!!
Some of you may remember from physical education classes in high school- an exercise
named "jumping jacks". It is an exercise which you start from a standing position. From that
position you jump up, and come back down with your feet spread wide apart.....while at the same
time you clap your hands above your head! It can be an easy exercise, but if you perform it
at a very quick pace. and for a long period of time it can then be very strenuous exercise!
Mr. Jack had us doing 'jumping jacks' at a very high rate of speed, AND for a very lo-o-n-ng
time!!! We did 'jumping jacks' until we thought we were going to lose consciousness, or die!!! (We did survive!)
During the 3 months of "boot camp", Mister Jack had us do jumping jacks many, many, many,
times!!!!!
At the end of the 3 months, we had a graduation ceremony. Shortly after that, we stood in line to
board buses which would take us to the airport, and thus to our next duty stations.
While standing in line to board the buses.....some of the men were talking and laughing. When
Mr. Jack saw that happening, he yelled in a very loud, menacing tone "READY, BEGIN!!!!!!
So... we had already completed our graduation, we were standing in line to board the buses---
GETTING OUT AND AWAY from that place...and Mr. Jack still had us doing jumping jacks!!!!!
Only THIS time we had to do the jumping jacks while holding our luggage ("sea bags") above our heads!!! (the luggage bags each weighed 60-70 pounds!!!) CRAZY!!! That man is crazy!!!
(Again) We had already GRADUATED...and that man STILL has us doing jumping jacks.....
with those "seabags" held above our heads!!!
As you might imagine, it was a LONG time before I could think of Mr. Jack with other than anger! But I do still remember his name. (And yes, I have forgiven him!!!) I will probably
remember his name as long as I remain on the earth.
AHHH!!! But YES!!! There is the MOST POSITIVE AND ETERNAL NAME that I remember
constantly, many times per day--------The name that is above every name--JESUS!!!!!!!!!
"And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the
point of death, even to death on the cross.
"There fore GOD also has highly exalted HIM and given HIM the NAME which is ABOVE EVERY name, that's at the NAME of JESUS every knee shall bow, of those in heaven, and
those on earth, and those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that JESUS
CHRIST IS LORD, to the glory of GOD THE FATHER." (Philippians 2:8-11).
When I remember the NAME OF JESUS, think of the One who laid down His life to save me...
my LORD, I think of HIM in reverent awe, joy, in HIS GREAT LOVE and deep peace, in deep
thanksgiving,...knowing that He will always be for me, and with me (Matthew 28:20). I know that He will always be WORTHY of reverent awe, worship, reverence, praise, and Thanksgiving!!!
(Revelation 5:12). I FEAST on the TRUTH that HE IS THE SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY, AND FOREVER." (Hebrews 13:8). I will forever FEAST on the Wonder, awe, and deep thanks
that because of His SACRIFICE, I WILL ....."dwell in the house of the LORD forever". (Psalm 23:6).
I believe that literally I could fill pages, and pages, and pages with Praise, thanksgiving, worship,
and Honor TO HIM!!!!!!!!!
Back to Philippians 2:9---"...the NAME ABOVE EVERY NAME".
Frequently, I hear people say, or sing, ' JESUS - THE NAME ABOVE ALL (OTHER) NAMES'.
The correct reading is 'His is the Name above every name'. I am not yet totally sure why it is written that way. I have done some study and meditation on that.....And I believe that I have
partial understanding-----
I have read that in Hebrew thought - you cannot separate the NAME from the PERSON; And
because JESUS is King of Kings and Lord of Lords (Rev.19:16), Lord Most High (Psalm 47:2)...
that gives some clarity and deeper understanding and appreciation. He is indeed above every
OTHER person!!!
In Luke 22:19 Jesus is sharing the Lord's Supper with His (first) disciples, and He says to them---
" 'And He took bread, gave thanks, and broke (the bread)and gave it to them, saying 'This is my
body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of ME." A similar passage in (I Corinthians
11:24-25.....'Jesus said "This do in remembrance of ME.'
Let me testify: I thank Him for my being able to arise from bed in the morning and to pray in HIS
NAME several times each day. He is my peace... and He never changes!!! I remember His Name in awe and reverence: He is my LORD and SAVIOR, the ONE Who laid down His life for me.....I
remember HIS NAME with love and adoration, in thanksgiving; I remember HIS NAME in blessing others; I remember that He is "...with me always; it is very important to remember His Name. I thank Him.....He gives to us every heartbeat and every breath!!!
Seriously, I could fill many pages with Thanksgiving to Him.
I have a book that lists 344 of Jesus Christ's Names. It is an absolute TREASURE to me!!! Each name is like a facet of a diamond - revealing more of His very heart and character!!!
The book of Jesus' names that I have is no longer in print.
I URGE you to find a book that's teaches you about JESUS' NAMES--- It will be a rich treasure to you for reading and studying!!!

HUMAN RESCUE VS JESUS CHRIST'S RESCUE OF YOU AND ME!!!!!!!!!
During the first two years of my military service, the most important duty that I had was serving
as a member of the "crash crew".
That took place on a naval air station in Washington State. The duty of the crash crew was to be
observing all planes as they took off and as they landed.
As it's name ("crash crew") indicates, It was our duty to watch for plane crashes.....when we saw
one, we were to quickly drive to the location, extinguish the fire, and rescue the flight crew, and to
also rescue any passengers.
While serving on the crash crew, members were assigned duties based on the level of training)
which they had experienced.
New recruits started out as a "turret man". A "turret man" rode on top of the cab of the fire
truck--- and he operated a turret gun---by aiming a nozzle which shot forth (either water or foam
onto the fire.
After turret man, you were promoted to being a "hose man". Hose men maneuvered a fire hose
in order to move closer to the fire. The next position available was to become a "rescue man".
As a "rescue man" your job was to get inside the crashed plane.....and rescue
all the flight crew, and all passengers.
Next after rescue man, you could become a truck driver.
I am sure that many of you have seen on TV news, or maybe in the movies (where a white foam
is sprayed around the plane). That is done to prevent explosions and more fire.
In my tour of duty there, (By God's grace), I eventually made it to the position of "rescue man".
Later, I became a truck driver. The truck that I drove was a "tanker truck"---which was used to provide extra water, or foam,----for the fire trucks.
All that (above).....to "set the scene" so that I can tell you the main points of this message:
At the time (1964---65) that I served on the crash crew.....the ingredients that were mixed to-
gether to make the foam were: air, water, and animal blood!!!
The animal blood was obtained from meat-packing factories. The meat-packing factories are (in today's language) called an abattoir (pronounced "aba-twah"). Of course, in today's fire-fighting
-----they probably use different ingredients.
Now, let's look at some of GOD'S WORD (proof of the truth!!!):
"But Christ came as High Priest of the greater, more perfect tabernacle not made with human hands,
not with the blood of goats and calves, but with HIS OWN BLOOD He entered the Most Holy Place (ONCE FOR ALL!!!) time and into eternity having obtained eternal redemption." (Hebrews 9:11-12).
(from study notes and other research)---"Jesus Christ came into History as an ETERNAL PRIEST
to offer an ETERNAL SACRIFICE for sin. The shedding of HIS BLOOD provided a PERMANENT SACRIFICE for sin, and a permanent covenant bond between GOD and man.
Or to put it another way---(SEE Romans 8:16)
Animal blood [from an (abattoir/"abi-twah)]") is inadequate, and must be repeated often.....
But JESUS CHRIST'S blood (from ABBA is a PERMANENT SACRIFICE) and a PERMANENT
COVENANT BOND between GOD and man.

OH!!! THE PRECIOUS AND POWER BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST!!!!!!!!!
Because JESUS CHRIST laid down His life for me and for you!!!!!!!!!
During the first two years of my military service, the most important duty that I had was serving
as a member of the "crash crew".
That took place on a naval air station in Washington State. The duty of the crash crew was to be
observing all planes as they took off and as they landed.
As it's name ("crash crew") indicates, It was our duty to watch for plane crashes.....when we saw
one, we were to quickly drive to the location, extinguish the fire, and rescue the flight crew, and to
also rescue any passengers.
While serving on the crash crew, members were assigned duties based on the level of training)
which they had experienced.
New recruits started out as a "turret man". A "turret man" rode on top of the cab of the fire
truck--- and he operated a turret gun---by aiming a nozzle which shot forth (either water or foam
onto the fire.
After turret man, you were promoted to being a "hose man". Hose men maneuvered a fire hose
in order to move closer to the fire. The next position available was to become a "rescue man".
As a "rescue man" your job was to get inside the crashed plane.....and rescue
all the flight crew, and all passengers.
Next after rescue man, you could become a truck driver.
I am sure that many of you have seen on TV news, or maybe in the movies (where a white foam
is sprayed around the plane). That is done to prevent explosions and more fire.
In my tour of duty there, (By God's grace), I eventually made it to the position of "rescue man".
Later, I became a truck driver. The truck that I drove was a "tanker truck"---which was used to provide extra water, or foam,----for the fire trucks.
All that (above).....to "set the scene" so that I can tell you the main points of this message:
At the time (1964---65) that I served on the crash crew.....the ingredients that were mixed to-
gether to make the foam were: air, water, and animal blood!!!
The animal blood was obtained from meat-packing factories. The meat-packing factories are (in today's language) called an abattoir (pronounced "aba-twah"). Of course, in today's fire-fighting
-----they probably use different ingredients.
Now, let's look at some of GOD'S WORD (proof of the truth!!!):
"But Christ came as High Priest of the greater, more perfect tabernacle not made with human hands,
not with the blood of goats and calves, but with HIS OWN BLOOD He entered the Most Holy Place (ONCE FOR ALL!!!) time and into eternity having obtained eternal redemption." (Hebrews 9:11-12).
(from study notes and other research)---"Jesus Christ came into History as an ETERNAL PRIEST
to offer an ETERNAL SACRIFICE for sin. The shedding of HIS BLOOD provided a PERMANENT SACRIFICE for sin, and a permanent covenant bond between GOD and man.
Or to put it another way---(SEE Romans 8:16)
Animal blood [from an (abattoir/"abi-twah)]") is inadequate, and must be repeated often.....
But JESUS CHRIST'S blood (from ABBA is a PERMANENT SACRIFICE) and a PERMANENT
COVENANT BOND between GOD and man.

WHAT.....(WHO).....DEFINES........ME???
Recently, I received (via text) a sound recording of a worship song titled "Abba".
"Abba" is the word meaning "Daddy", or "Papa" ( see Romans 8:15).
Through that song, our most gracious GOD has very deeply BLESSED me!!! The complete
song is extra Special, Extra Good.....
The song is a worship song - sung directly unto GOD.
***** I URGE YOU to pray...asking the Holy Spirit "please guide me to the truth of this YOUR WORD.*****
One brief line of the lyrics has especially impacted me in a very deep, holy way.
Through this song, The Holy Spirit has caused me and enabled me to worship
and pray to our Abba Father God with much more Love, Adoration, and Thanksgiving!!!
That brief line of the lyrics has set me on a pathway to greater depth of LOVE FOR, and
WORSHIP OF, GOD OUR ABBA FATHER.
(Again, it is sung DIRECTLY TO GOD OUR ABBA FATHER):
"Abba, I belong to YOU."
"Abba I belong to YOU.
"Abba, I belong to YOU.
"Abba, I belong to YOU."
YOUR THOUGHTS DEFINE ME..."
I remember that ...once I head that part of the lyrics---I stopped singing, and wrote down a prayer
to GOD OUR ABBA (Daddy, Papa):
"Oh Father!!! could it be, could it be.....that YOUR THOUGHTS define me??????
The LORD gave me understanding; I was OVERWHELMED WITH, and IMMERSED IN
GOD'S HOLY LOVE!!!!!!!!!
Could it be, could it be ---that YOUR thoughts define me --- and not (my thoughts) that define me; that I am NOT defined by what other people think of me.....
Oh GOD ("Abba") As I meditated on that TRUTH, the Holy Spirit began to bring to my remembrance scriptures --- like:
Jeremiah 29:11---"For I know the plan (thoughts) I have for you; they are plans for good, to give
you a future and a hope."
Psalm 40:5---"Many, O LORD MY GOD, are your wonderful works which YOU have done;
and YOUR thoughts toward (us) cannot be recounted to YOU in order; If I would declare and
speak of them. They are more than can be numbered" .
Psalm 139: 17-18---" How precious also are YOUR THOUGHTS to me O GOD!!!
If I could count them, they would be more in number than the sand..."
In JESUS' NAME ask Him to guide and enable us to submit to Him, read our Bibles
regularly.....remembering that the Holy Spirit will "...guide us into all Truth (John 16:13);
Agree with His Word in (I Corinthians 2:16) that "...we have the MIND OF JESUS CHRIST".
Agree with His word in (Philippians 1:6) "Being confident of this very thing--- that He Who
has begun a good work in you will complete it the day of JESUS CHRIST."
***(by GOD'S GRACE) I am beginning ...today, will you join me!!!??!!!

MY IDENTITY??? YOUR IDENTITY????
WHERE DOES IT COME FROM?????
Definition- Chorus: A line or group of lines repeated at intervals in a song.
Several years ago, while listening to a Pastor's sermon on a cd, the Pastor referred to a chorus as part of His message-----the title of His sermon, and the chorus, are the same:
"JESUS, YOU'RE MY IDENTITY".
You can rejoice that this is NOT an opportunity for me to sing within your hearing - you really do not want that to happen!
But, please, Open your heart to the powerful, yet intimate- Love, that the truths in this chorus will
establish in our hearts.
CHORUS---"JESUS, you're my identity,
JESUS, you're my security,
JESUS, YOU are my everything;
And I love You, love You So!!!
If we will sing that aloud to ourselves each day---that truth will become more and more deeply
established in our hearts and spirits.
We can sing it to any tune you like, or, we can declare these truths as a poem!
(The next time that you talk to me, ask me about it. and I will sing it for you, and you will know it
with the original melody.
As we continue to sing/recite those truths from GOD'S WORD...Will:
strengthen our faith,
Deepen our Peace,
and increase our joy!!!
Singing/reciting these truths will also glorify JESUS CHRIST!!!

DIVINE APPOINTMENT!!!
Some of Jesus' promises in answer to our Prayers!!
Her name was "Cindy". The place in which we met was Benchmark Physical Therapy,
in Dahlonega, Ga.
Approximately 2 years ago, while I was engaged in rehabilitation following total
knee joint replacement surgery (left knee).
In HOLY GOD'S perfect timing---(Remember - HE had written all our days before
our day of birth [Psalm 139:16]).
So in GOD'S perfect timing, on a particular afternoon, I was there doing my assigned
exercises.
As usual, I was wearing one of my "JESUS - WORD OF GOD" T-SHIRTS.
the therapy room is narrow, and very long. I was near the middle of the room.
When I heard the front door, I looked to see if it was one of my friends coming in.......
But it was not anyone that I already knew.
When I did look up...I saw a young woman standing just inside the door. She was looking around
at all the people, as if she were looking for a specific person. When our "eyes met",....I sensed that
our LORD was directing me to move closer toward her. As I approached her, she began talking to
me about her children. She stated that she had 2 teen-age children - a daughter named "Taylor", and a son named "Jacob".
This Mother's name is "Cindy" .
Cindy further shared that she had always been diligent in teaching Taylor and Jacob to read and study their Bible, and that "now that Taylor and Jacob were teenagers... she (Cindy) was concerned that they were becoming more
"worldly",and they were less interested in JESUS CHRIST.
As I listened to Cindy's concern, the HOLY SPIRIT brought to my remembrance some Bible verses
I should share with her:
1) John 14:26 (Jesus speaking) "the HOLY SPIRIT... will bring to your remembrance all things that I have said to you."
2)John 16:13 (Jesus speaking) "He...(THE HOLY SPIRIT...He will guide you into all truth."
To Summarize: Because Cindy has taught Taylor and Jacob the importance of Bible study...
[as long as they live] Cindy can pray that The HOLY SPIRIT will bring the Bible verses to
the remembrance of Taylor and Jacob; and Cindy can ask the HOLY SPIRIT to guide them into
the truth!!!
Before that day in Benchmark - I had never seen Cindy: and I have not seen her since.
Because God is "faithful to His Word and to His righteous Character (2 Timothy 2:13/Amplified Bible). I do continue to enjoy the privilege of praying for Cindy, Taylor, and Jacob--- and I fully
expect to see Cindy, Taylor, and Jacob in Heaven!!!
Of course these same Bible principles can be used in praying for any persons.
"'HOLY! HOLY! HOLY! is the LORD OF HOSTS" (Isaiah 6:3)
"THEY SING THE SONG OF MOSES, the servant of GOD, and the song of the LAMB, saying
Great and marvelous are Your works, L0RD GOD ALMIGHTY!!! Just and true are Your ways
O KING of the saints!--- Who shall not behold You in Awe, O LORD, AND glorify YOUR NAME? For You alone are HOLY!!! For all nations shall come and worship before YOU..." (Revelation
15:3-4).
